4th Annual Ashera Blare-A 2007 Rocked

The oh-so-Austin venue Club de Ville was the place to be Friday, April 20th, 2007, where nearly 200 people enjoyed The Otters, The Minderchucks, The Heirs, and All In The Golden Afternoon. A great time was had by all, and Ashera raised some good dough for our students' futures!

What a HOT time on a COLD night! We had a blast on Friday, December 1st at Ruta Maya for our 5th Annual "Have a Latté. Give a Lot-té!" Celebration!

Always our favorite coffee-house concert of the year, we were still amazed at the talent of the local bands who came out to support Ashera Project! Check out Cedar Fever and The Lovely Sparrows on MySpace if you missed out; you'll be eager for more just like us! We were also thrilled to have Wilton Harris of Reagan High School's XYZone speak about our work keeping kids in school. He emphasized that these youth are our future, a theme local leaders were talking about this week at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, which just this last week launched a major initiative to get 20,010 more youth applying to college by 2010. Ashera applauds these efforts and also those of the great volunteers and Austin businesses and service professionals who donated awesome silent auction and raffle items to make our event a success! We couldn't do it without you!

the BEST OF SEX ED with Owen Egerton

If you haven't yet seen this one-of-a-kind show at the Alamo Drafthouse, put it on your to-do list! Our tremendous supporter Owen Egerton put together a truly eye-opening collage of "educational" films, and it's been a smash success, with most shows selling out and a good portion of the proceeds going to Ashera's great educational programs. Recent shows included: October '05, February '06, June '06, and October '06. If you'd like to be notified of the next showing, subscribe to our eNewsletter!

3rd Annual: Ashera-Blare-A

Ashera Blare-A 2006: What a night we had on a perfect evening down at Club de Ville on Thursday, April 27th! The line-up for our annual fundraising rock-concert included The Lovely Sparrows, The Heirs, Klier Channel, and Things That Go Pop (returning for their 2nd show with us!). Thanks to the power of the internet, our show drew attendees from as far away as Boston to come out and support a great cause and keep kids in school. Thanks to the cozy club, the fine musicians, and the fun revellers for all the support of our community's youth!

Have a Latté. Give a Lot-té: 4th Annual Ashera Project Celebration

Our 4th Annual Celebration - Have a Latté. Give a Lot-té. - was a wonderful success! Thank you to Ruta Maya for the perfect community space! Thank you to our musical guests: Luna Tart, Matt the Electrician and Southpaw Jones. Thank you to our speakers and passionate supporters, Jim Rigby and Shelby Knox. We couldn't continue to hold such successful events and to do the work we do in the community without the generous support of the local artists and businesses that donate, and all the great volunteers and event attendees who celebrate and share with us. Thank you!

Ashera Project Garage Sale

Thank you to all you pack rats who donated your stuff! We had so many wonderful items - books, furniture, baby stuff - not only did we benefit, but so did Big Brother Big Sisters (we donated what was left to Savers.) And for all you pack rats who came out to add to your stuff, we certainly couldn't have done it without you, either! Look for our community Garage Sale to happen at least once a year. Start gettin' your stash ready!

Ashera-Blare-A 2005

Ashera-Blare-A 2005: Thanks to everyone who came out to Club de Ville on Thursday, April 7 to support the Ashera Project. Not only did you hear some great live music by Carrie Clark, Halley, Visitors, and Things That Go Pop , but you opened up your hearts and wallets to help Ashera continue the work its doing to empower Austin's youth. Way to go, people!

1st Annual Ashera Project Bowl-a-Thon

Wow! What a fun event! We had a great time bowling, laughing, getting to know each other. Thanks to everyone who came out to bowl and to all of the sponsors. Also, thanks to Show Place Lanes has generously donated lanes and shoes for the event. Hope to see all of you aspiring bowlers next time!

Ashera-Blare-A 2004

We would like to extend a very special thanks to the bands - Panic Button, Matt the Electrician, Three Pot Offy, and Something Happened. Also, special thanks to Kevin Gillion for all his hard work.
